RAW by Aster Detoxifying Cleanses – day 1
I have officially started the Raw by Aster “Five-Day Catwalk Cleanse.” I’m not new to cleansing and detoxes, in fact I’m just coming off of a 14 day Raw Vegan / Juice Detox and this Raw by Aster Catwalk is my grand finale ending.
So here’s my day one of following the steps of the program:

First thing I did this morning was chug a glass of warm lemon water, popped the Action (blend of vitamins like A, B6, B12, Milk Thistle, etc) and Revive (contains Triphala) pills. Then I made the Berry Basic Shake. The shake was pretty darn delicious. Strawberries, 2 scoops of vanilla Sleek powder, coconut milk and 1/2 scoop of RAW Fiber by Garden of Life. Yummm!

Mid-morning I mixed 1 teaspoon of the Glamour Greens with water, shook it up then drank. This wasn’t too bad. The flavor of the berries really stood out. The powder mix also contains a bunch of other vegetables and fruits. (see bottom of post)

For lunch I made the Raw/Blended Vegan option from their lunch ideas menu. Blended together 1 cup carrot juice, 3/4 sweet potato, 1 scoop of Vanilla Sleek and 1/2 an avocado. The texture and taste was so weird to me. Did I mention the sleek powder is vanilla? It was so overwhelmingly sweet over the other ingredient. Also have you ever taken a bite of a raw sweet potato? Exactly, you probably haven’t before. Not to my taste. Also I read somewhere that Sweet Potatoes raw are difficult to digest and some people say should NOT be eaten raw.
Vegapeace.org had this to say: Sweet potato shows trypsin inhibitor activity. That means it contains an enzyme inhibitor that blocks the action of trypsin, an enzyme that digests proteins. The trypsin inhibitor prevents the digestion of protein. Sweet potatoes with higher protein levels have more of the trypsin inhibitor. This makes raw sweet potato difficult to digest. The trypsin inhibitor is deactivated by cooking. Sweet potato should not be eaten raw.
I couldn’t even finish the Raw/Vegan Blend. I had 3 spoonfuls and had to pour it out. What a waste but I honestly thought I was going to get sick. It will be the salad bar for me tomorrow!

Mid-afternoon, repeat Glamour Greens mixed with water. Plus a small organic Granny Smith apple and 7 almonds.

And then it was time for dinner. I was kinda starving at this point because all I had for lunch was an apple and 7 almonds. So I decided to make the Berry Basic Shake again, because I didn’t want to experiment with the other recipes on an empty stomach. Also it was so good. After that I took the Action pill.

Finishing the day with a hot shower using the Smooth body polish and Silk Nourishing Body treatment spray. Then pop a Revive pill and sleep.
I made it through the first day although I have to admit, that was tough! I mean I just went through 14 days of only raw food and juices, but this left me feeling starved. Although that was part my fault for not picking a good filling lunch. As I mentioned above, I had to pour it out. Ick.
Tomorrow is another day. I’m 1 day down 4 more to go. Wish me luck.

Sorry your day 1 didn’t go very well. How do you feel today?
Rach, I just started day 2. This morning I woke up so hungry.. erm I mean, my hungry woke me up. Today is another day and I plan on picking a different more filling lunch. One that I can actually eat. It’s always tough the first day of any cleanse plan.
No wonder you were hungry! That does not look very filling at all.
Hi I found your blog because I was searching about this company. Thank you for writing a review, I couldn’t find anything else online. You’re going for the full 5 days? Is everyday the same routine?
Dezzie – Hi! Yeah I’m doing the full enchilada – 5 days. The routine is basically the same but with different recipes. Breakfast will always be a shake/smoothie, Mid-morning the green mixture, Lunch they give you a meal plan, Mid-afternoon on days 1-3-5 green mixture + apple + 7 almonds and on days 2+4 one of their Beauty Bars then for Dinner it’s another shake.
This is such a great blog! I, too, began the Catwalk Cleanse yesterday. The first day for me went okay, but then I woke up in the middle of the night with my stomach grumbling. It’s challenging, but I really want to accomplish this!
I just had the mid-afternoon snack, the beauty bar, and only tastes okay. I am eating the #4 lunch choice Organic Salad as my lunch choice. It has been very satisfying especially since the rest of the day is made of shakes and the greens drink. Best of luck with the next few days. I’ll be right there with you!
Joanne, doesn’t it taste like a chocolate coconut candy bar? I was expecting like granola or raw bar.
Good luck!!! =)
I am on day 3 of the Catwalk Cleanse. The first 2 days were fine and today I am SO SO hungry. Not sure how I feel about this…
Lauren – I know what you mean. This is my first pill and smoothie type of cleanse and I found that it definitely leaves me hungry towards the end of the day.
[...] I made it through Day 1, although I was left a little starved towards the end of the day yesterday. So lets hope today goes a little smoother. [...]
