When it’s designed and made in a classy manner, I’m a huge fan of lace! I think lace has the appeal to look sophisticated but also sexy. I currently have two long sleeve lace shirts and they always get attention from the ladies when I’m out. Let’s face it, lace is different and we don’t see very many people wearing it out these days. Some say lace should only be featured in lingerie, I say whenever you want as long as it’s appropriate of course.

Fur vest weather is just around the corner. Whether you prefer real or faux the fur vest is a staple, a classic piece for the winter season.

I’m convinced something has come over or maybe even possessed me because I’m back to my girly ways. I love pink, colors and dresses again! I took a turn to the dark side for about two years. All I wore was black and white and it seems that I grew out of that phase! Still love it but I’m welcoming some color into my closet so it isn’t as bland anymore.

At the moment, I have an intense obsession with dresses. It’s so funny to think that when I was younger I went through a period of being a tom boy. I literally shopped in the boys department for shirts and I always wore loose jeans. To see myself go from young tom boy to older girly girl is pretty bizarre.

Wearing a slip is not something I normally do. I know that they were more popular at one time and I remember my mom refusing to wear a dress or a skirt without a slip. She said she felt naked. Me? I think they feel restricting. I love the feeling of a floaty skirt on my bare legs, so why add an extra layer of fabric? But after seeing the Free People Mesh Half Slip, I found myself reconsidering the way I feel. There is just something so alluring about this piece. I love the tulle-like mesh fabric and ruffled edge. It is romantic, feminine, and fun. Nothing like what my mom used to wear! It’s so pretty, in fact, that it is hard to believe it is an undergarment! I think this slip would look great paired with a casual, boho-chic skirt. Simply let the bottom hem peek out for a playful and flirty look!

Digging the Spring 2010 Tribal Look? Then you will love the new Desert Gypsy Look that is heading our way for Fall! And Free People has a great selection of jewelry and accessories to get you started! So far, I am really liking what I am seeing. The pieces featured for this look are fun, eclectic, and cultural. But they are a lot less cluttered looking, some of the pieces could even be described as dainty. Plus the colors are much more muted and not all in-your-face. Take a look at these pieces I have pictured here. The Traded Treasure Bib Necklace features gold coins attached to linked chunky chains. The aqua and coral colored ribbons add just the right amount of color that isn’t too overpowering. The Engraved Bangles and Nile Fringe Earrings both have a cultural feel to them, yet they are much more dainty that the jewelry seen in the Tribal Look. And the Sumi Slouchy Beanie? Well… it’s just too cute!

Feathers have been used in jewelry since… well, since humans first began making jewelry! The allure of feathers is understandable though. They are glamorous, yet mysterious. But when it comes to feathers and jewelry, I prefer letting the natural beauty of the feather speak for itself. In other words, simple is the key! That’s why I am in love with these Free People Dipped Feather Earrings! Each earring is composed of a single feather hanging from a french wire hook. A single chainlink strand dangling down behind the feather was added as an accent. But as simple as these earrings are, they have the potential to make a very big statement. The secret? That magnificent electric blue color! Oh my gosh! There would definitely be no need for a necklace (or any other jewelry, for that matter) while wearing these beauties! I would recommend wearing these earrings with something simple, elegant, and preferably black in order to create the perfect showcase.
