The stud trend lives on!
Gawsh, after seeing Mike & Chris’ new Maguire Studded Leather Jacket, I am about ready to trade in my last years version of this jacket! This one is just too amazing with the studded detailing.
You can find this hot new Fall piece either at Bloomingdales or Net-a-Porter. The retail price varies between both sites, not sure why that is.
A little over a year ago (June 2008) marked the debut of Nicole Richie’s boho-chic House of Harlow jewelry line. Named after her little darling, Harlow Winter Kate Madden the collection has everything from rings and cuffs to headpieces.
Side note: Did you know Nicole will be adding a line of accessories, including handbags, belts and 20 styles of shoes? Expected to be included in her Spring 2010 collection. She’s going to partner up with the makers of Modern Vintage shoes and Earnest Sewn jeans.
Which got me thinking… DIY idea? I found this gold necklace in my jewelry chest, which looks to me like the beads are almost identical.
The price of my necklace was around $100, so it’s not really a deal-breaking DIY project. Although, I’m sure you can find a selection of gold-colored nugget beaded necklaces at any department store or boutique. Possible check out Target or even F21.
Interesting. For $15 you can design your own Tribute looking bag, but with your own personal touch.
Celebrating the design genius of the legendary Yves Saint Laurent, and inspired by the YSL Tribute bag, this fabulous oversized Tote is designed for decorator canvas, denim, corduroy, twill or brocade-but it will also rock in real or faux suede or leather. Oversized Tote has a darted base, with shoulder straps, snap or magnetic fastening, optional luggage-tag trim, and side zipper openings at each side. Tote is lined with interior zippered, cell phone and small open pockets. This spectacular Tote will make a great everyday bag for all seasons…make it in sturdy canvas for a perfect beachbag; try it in real or faux suede or leather for work; work it up in denim and pad it with some quilt batting for a totally stylin’ laptop/notebook bag.

Feelin a little creative? Fendi has just the thing to fill your free time, the Artist Baguette.
For this DIY project you will need $1,300. For that price, you will get a box of special Fendi markers and a plain white leather ‘baguette style’ bag, minus the signature logo pattern. Although, all you friends will know it’s Fendi, with the interlocking “F” magnetic closure on the front flap.
I don’t know about this whole artistic paint it yourself project idea, for me. I guess if I was super artistic then I would take a crack at. However, I lack that special artistic trait when it comes to painting or drawing.
Also I would rather pick up the signature Fendi white Anniversary Baguette for $300-less over at Saks Fifth Avenue, then when I get sick of it a couple months later (like so many of my bags), I will pawn it off on one of my arty friends to have a go at it.
What do you guys think of this idea? Do you wish that more designers had DIY projects like this? Or should the creativity be left to the designers.
