Hessnatur, the world’s largest organic apparel company, and Discovery Channel’s Planet Green have just announced the sale of the “One Life” tee shirt, winner of The Eco-Tee Design Challenge held last fall. Hundreds of people entered the competition and one lucky winner was chosen to have their design appear on hessnatur’s 100% organic tee shirt, to be sold worldwide to benefit a great cause! The contest was judged by Blake Mycoskie (Founder of TOMS Shoes), Miranda Purves (Lifestyle Editor of ELLE), Summer Rayne Oakes (Eco-Model), and Miguel Adrover (CFDA award winner and Creative Director of hessnatur).

The winner, Lindsay Seligman, a young California artist and designer, created a simple and eloquent design: a single line that depicts a bird, cat, fish, butterfly, frog and human face, all connected with the words “One Life.”

The 100% organic cotton tee is produced by Grameen Knitwear, a non-profit organization in Dhaka, Bangladesh dedicated to improving the health and working standards of textile workers. Grameen Knitwear is an affiliate of the Grameen Bankfounded by 2006 Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Dr. Muhammad Yunus. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the tee shirt go back to Grameen Shikkha project, whose mission is to eradicate poverty through educational scholarships.

How exactly daring are you when it comes to shoes, would you wear bright colors or sequins at your feet? How about multicolored platform cutout leather boots? New to the season, Versace presents these one of a kind platform boots for the brave. With a raised platform of three inches and a heel of seven (that’s right, seven!), these sure aren’t your typical everyday shoes. The bottom portion of these boots look more platform stiletto heels to me. As for the top portion of long graphic printed leather, it’s a bit too much going on for the average liking and from a distance, resembles a retro wrong of wearing printed high socks with high heels. Maybe if the boot style arrived in a single sold color it might be more appealing, then again a solid ‘boring’ piece wouldn’t be Versace-ish. I’m giving this a thumbs up for the creation of something so out of the ordinary.

Although I’m a heel type of gal, I can’t deny a good looking pair of flats. I’ve been eyeing a nice stud encrusted set to pair up with my denims; today, I ran into the Sienna Cap Toe Flats by Joe’s Jeans. I’m a fan of Joe’s denim jeans; I’m just not familiar with their footwear. This pair features various smoke toned crystals and metal cone studs. I don’t doubt that this pair would look great with dark skinny denims, but I’m kind of ‘iffy’ on if the adornment cluster is really as fabulous as it’s intended to be. There is nothing unusual or risk taking about the all black leather piece, so you can bet that you would get your $140 worth, year round. Going back to the encrusted cap toe feature, it does add character to an all black pair of flats, and I would say that it sure does beat a steel-toed shoe.

Kenneth Jay Lane is one of my favorites for stocking up on cute costume jewelry that’s both reasonably affordable and trendy. Too bad not everything in the KJL collection catches my attention, or is that a good thing instead… Recently spotted to her collection is the Clear Bubble Bead Necklace, a piece only a few gals can actually pull off. Extremely large oversized beads lines this rhodium-plated necklace, presenting such a striking appearance, regardless of who wears it. The name states its clear, but in fact, it’s transparent; and whatever you choose to wear with this necklace, it will reflect the colors of your outfit, so there is no need to worry on matching this necklace up with your favorite articles of clothing.
